Including STANLEY (“The Birthday Party”), ESTRAGON (“Waiting for Godot”), FANCOURT-BABBERLY (“Charley’s Aunt”), ROCHEFORT (“The Three Musketeers”) and FESTE (“Twelfth Night”). A stint at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon Avon saw him working with such luminaries as John Gielgud, Vanessa Redgrave, Christopher Plummer, Ian Bannen and Peggy Ashcroft. Roger toured every major British city with “Beyond the Fringe“, appeared as the BEGGAR in “The Beggar’s Opera” in Aldeburgh, Edinburgh and Paris, and was featured in “Saint’s Day” at the St. Martin’s Theatre in London. He is a member of British Actors’ Equity Association. Roger Jerome began to visit America in 1988 and, for a while, worked at various colleges. Picking up his professional acting in the USA, in the early 90’s, Roger played MR. DARLING and CAPTAIN HOOK in “Peter Pan” at the WV Public Theater, for whom he also played ALFRED P. DOOLITTLE in “My Fair Lady“. Out on Cape Cod, he was FRIAR LAURENCE (“Romeo and Juliet“), DOGBERRY (“Much Ado About Nothing“), SMEE (“Peter Pan“) and S. B. O’DONNELL (“Philadelphia, Here I come!“) at the Monomoy Theatre. At the Pittsburgh Public Theatre he was CAPULET (“Romeo and Juliet“). He played REV TOOKER (“Cat on a Hot Tin Roof“) at Arkansas Rep, Little Rock. Also in Pittsburgh, he was BEN WEATHERSTAFF (“The Secret Garden“), NEVILLE McBRIDE (“James McBride“) and received rave reviews for his 3 lead roles in a new triple bill, “Elder Hostages“.
For PICT in Pittsburgh, he played TEDDY (“Faith Healer”), TARTUFFE (“Tartuffe”), MR.HARDCASTLE (“She Stoops to Conquer”) roles in “The School for Scandal” and “Hobson’s Choice”. He is a member of American Actors’ Equity.
Roger played TEDDY In Brian Friel’s “FAITH HEALER” for Pittsburgh’s Irish and Classical Theatre, directed by Andrew S Paul. This show toured the whole of Ireland on 2002, including Belfast, Derry, Kilkenny and Tipperary.
He performed as CHARLES WILLSON PEALE for a video now shown at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Peale was one of the 5 great American painters of the Revolutionary War era. Roger’s head had to be shaved.
